This project is a high voltage electrical design and build contract that C&P Engineering Services have been awarded by REG WindPower for the Pen Bryn Oer Wind Farm. The site is situated between Rhymney and Tredegar and comprises of 3 off Vesta V90 2MW Wind Turbines, generating 6 MW in total.
Construction Phase 2 – Major HV Electrical Plant & Equipment Installation
C&P have begun the high voltage construction on site and have started the second phase of the Pen Bryn Oer Windfarm project. On Monday 14th August 2017, major plant and equipment was delivered to site to begin the installation of an Ormazabal Velatia CGM.3 33kV 630A Busbar Switchgear and a 50kVA Auxiliary Transformer. C&P Engineering Services has acquired a new windfarm high voltage maintenance contract in the Maerdy forestry above Treherbert in Wales, Rhondda Cynon Taff. The site is adjacent to Mynydd Bwllfa.
The site comprises of 8 Sitemans SWT 3.0-101 Wind turbines, has a combined output of 24MW and is connected at 33KV from the local WPD 33KV network. The site is operated by Wind Prospect Ltd and owned by Greencoat UK.
The site switchgear comprises of 3 x 33KV SF6 gas insulated circuit breakers, house transformer, pre insertion resistor. The pre insertion resistor enables the windfarm to energise without affecting the WPD local network, thus complies with P28 regulations.
