Morriston Hospital: Substation 3, Substation 4, Substation 6 HV/LV Upgrade

HV High Voltage Services, has delivered critical high voltage principal contractor projects for a number of NHS facilities and Hospitals in Wales and across the UK. These projects range from new substation design & installation to complete new private networks which include design, installation, through to commissioning and energisation.

We have a very good working relationship with the DNOs across the UK and have been involved in new electricity connections for various assets and are well positioned to deliver NHS high voltage infrastructure projects using our breadth and depth of technical and construction resources throughout the company.

The project at Morriston Hospital included designing and upgrading 3 substations, installing and jointing 11kV cable supplies and completing an LV cable diversion.

The High-voltage division of Welsh electrical specialist engineering firm, has been awarded the design and construction contract by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council for the high voltage electrical infrastructure required to support the development of a multi-million-pound Eco Park development at its Bryn Pica Waste Management Facility – the facility will be the first of its kind in the UK. HV Power System Upgrade for MOD Defence Training Estate
HV Power System Upgrade for MOD Defence Training Estate – C&P Engineering Services has been awarded the high voltage electrical design and build contract by Landmarc Support Services for the replacement of the HV power system at Kirkcudbright Training Centre at Kirkcudbright, Scotland. Landmarc works in partnership with DIO (Defence Infrastructure Organisation) to manage the national Defence training estate.

MOD High Voltage System Upgrade – Project Scope:

The MOD high voltage system upgrade project will include designing and constructing a new private HV system, the excavation and installation of 20km of cable across watercourses, roads, forests and agricultural terrain. It will also include the removal of an existing overhead 11kV HV system, retrofitting with new HV electrical plant and installing 10 off 11kV package substations across a site that spans over 4,700 acres (1,900 hectares) of farmland. Pen Bryn Oer Wind Farm Design & Build Contract – 6MW

Background

HV were awarded the high voltage electrical design and build contract by REG WindPower for the Pen Bryn Oer Wind Farm, situated between Rhymney and Tredegar. The site comprised of 3 off Vesta V90 2MW Wind Turbines, generating 6 MW in total. Pen Bryn Oer is located between the towns of Tredegar (2km to the east) and Rhymney (1km to the south west) in Caerphilly, South Wales. It is located along a northern ridge of a hill of maximum elevation of 457 m above sea level.

Principality Stadium: During November 2016, we were tasked with upgrading the electrical supply at the Principality stadium in readiness for the Wales Vs Australia rugby match to ensure greater reliability. The project involved establishing a substation to allow 3 off 1.25MVA generators to supply the 11kV ring.
